    If three shows are enough to predict a trend, then musicals and plays-with-music about gay soldiers in World War II are on the rise. A few years ago, celebrated Chicago-bred director David Cromer was attached to a planned Broadway production of the musical "Yank!" by Joseph and David Zellnik that never materialized. (The off-Broadway version, directed by Igor Goldin, received Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel nominations.) And New Colony just closed Evan Linder's "The Bear Suit of Happiness," about gay soldiers putting on a drag show.
