  1. 'So You Think You Can Dance' recap, Sweet six becomes final four

(With indefatigable recapper Amy Watts on the road this week, Diane Trap steps up to the plate in her stead.) Cat Deeley is wearing a shiny mosaic dress, like an elegant '70s shower stall. The six remaining dancers open with a routine set to "Scream"...

  3. The Writefast Club

The conversation segued from book to book, ranging from Elizabeth Strout's “Olive Kitteridge” to the works of Philip Roth, over coffee in the Palmer House café. Molly Ringwald had come to Chicago late this spring to support 826CHI, a non-profit tutoring center, as part of its “People Eating & Giving” dinner. Ringwald is known for her roles in John Hughes' movies such as “The Breakfast Club” and “Pretty in Pink.” But the former teen star is now a mother of three, including 3-year-old twins and 8-year-old Mathilda, and she is married to Panio Gianopoulos, a former editor at a New York publishing house who now writes fiction himself.

  5. Molly Ringwald taps into 'When It Happens to You'

Picture a film shoot somewhere in Canada. On one side of a swimming pool, the gear, the crew and most of the cast; on the other side, Molly Ringwald. They're shooting the rest of the scene before her part, so she sits on a box to wait. She begins tapping on her phone, and as the hours pass, that's all she does: Sit on the box, tapping. By the time the camera turns her way, she has finished the first draft of "When It Happens to You," the impassioned, clever title story of her first book of fiction, which hits shelves Tuesday.
