I played with the da Vinci Surgery SystemTM -- aka a robotic surgery system -- during the Carilion Women’s Health Fair at the New River Valley Mall in early April. Though that term “robotic” brought to my mind inhuman creatures with blank eyes using their steely appendages to perform Frankensteinian mutilations on human flesh, my imaginings were misguided. Since then, they’ve expanded its application to patients in urology, urogyenocology, and gynecology.
