  • Church services return to sanctuary

    Trinity Lutheran Church, 64 S. Main St., celebrated Palm Sunday services in their sanctuary. Last May, the sanctuary was destroyed by an electrical fire, and renovations and refurbishing were complete just in time for Holy Week. The congregation processed together from the social room where they have been worshiping, up the alley and through the front doors together. Many thanks to everyone involved in saving and renovating this beautiful space. If you would like to see the sanctuary in person, Easter services will be at 7 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Sunday.

    Josef Bikle, a longtime resident of Boonsboro and now living at Robinwood Assisted Living, was recognized recently by U.S. Rep. Roscoe Bartlett at a reception held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., for his participation in the Veterans History Program. Over the past year, he shared experiences, as well as artifacts, which will be kept for future generations to read and view at the library.

    Local gridiron standout Scott Haupt has received yet another honor. Haupt, a freshman at Waynesburg University, has been named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Honor Roll. Haupt, one of seven football players at WU to be named, has a 3.6 grade-point average in his major of pre-physical therapy. He is the son of Stacey and Brian Haupt of Boonsboro.
