1. Go undersea at Florida Aquarium

Sadly, I'm snorkel-impaired.
Sadly, I'm snorkel-impaired. No matter how many times I try, I can't make a dive mask seal to my face. When the water pours inside, rushing into my eyes and nose, any thoughts of watching underwater creatures are immediately overwhelmed by an instinct...

7. Letters From The Editor: Taking the funny way into the newspaper

They say kids don't read the paper anymore. I know one who does. Mine. Don't conclude that I force her to sit down with the newspaper because my livelihood depends on people doing just that. I can't even get her to eat a cooked carrot. My 7-year-old...

11. Father's Day: The six commandments of great grilling

Is it a coincidence that the start of the backyard cookout season coincides so neatly with Father’s Day? I think not. Certainly, we men have escaped the grill ghetto -- no longer is that the only thing we’re presumed to be able to do. But equally certainly, it is something that we do love to do, and do often. So we ought to do it well. Grilling is essentially a very simple way of cooking -- simple seasonings, simple cuts, simple techniques. So while Moses may have needed 10 commandments, I’ll offer only six.

13. Where to toast dad on Father's Day in the L.A. area

Drinking with dad is an underrated pleasure. After a whiskey or maybe a few beers he'll start to open up. He might tell you about that time in college when he got busted for something he once busted you for. He'll tell you how he fell in love with your mom, and about the trips they took before you were born. You might shoot a few rounds of pool, or walk to the restaurant across the street for a burger, but mostly you'll just hang out and talk. Fathers are best at being low maintenance, so this Father's Day celebrate dad by doing what he does best: relax. Here are a few places to do just that.

19. 6/16/2013-Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to dads everywhere and especially to my dad, Robert Wayne Englehart Sr., the Ironman. He's 91 years old next month and still plays a few holes of golf with my brother Tim and I once a year. As far as his age goes, he says when he gets to 100, he's going to start all over again. My father is a proud veteran of World War II having served in London with the Office of Strategic Services and as security for the nascent United Nations in San Francisco after the war. A self-taught instrumentalist, he visits a senior group weekly to play his ukelele banjo for the crowd. My favorite song in his repertoire is "I'm In Love With The Garbageman's Daughter":
