The Court Appointed Special Advocates of Imperial County (CASA) program is established to advocate for abused/neglected children in the juvenile court process. Through the use of highly trained volunteers, CASA is committed to providing all at-risk children with a voice in the court process.
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Imperial County (CASA) is extremely grateful to the academic efforts displayed on the part of the El Centro school district when it comes to educating our foster children.
El Centro school board member Chuck Fisher, Associate Superintendent Renato Montano, school Principal Karla Sigmond, and school psychologist Vickie Himes have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in providing the much-needed educational services to our foster children.
The El Centro school district is proactive in ensuring children’s academic needs remain uninterrupted when they are in foster care. In addition, their relentless efforts to reach out to members in the dependence system are well documented in the juvenile community. Lastly, the compassion on the part of school Principal Karla Sigmond and school psychologist Vickie Himes deserves county recognition. The El Centro school district advocates for foster children and does its best to ensure academic services are provided to one of the community’s most underserved population. The El Centro school district provides a model and level of professionalism for all school districts to follow nationwide. The El Centro school district’s efforts do not go unnoticed in the juvenile court system and CASA of Imperial County would like to recognize their passion in helping abused and neglected children in our community.
