EJMS to host regional Governor’s Cup contest

East Jessamine Middle School will host 15 local schools Saturday, Feb. 2, at the 16th Region Governor’s Cup Competition, an academic event sponsored by the Kentucky Association for Academic Competition.

Participating schools are East Jessamine Middle School, West Jessamine Middle School, Boyle County Middle School, Bate Middle School, King Middle School, B. Michael Caudill Middle School, Farristown Middle School, Model Lab school, Berea Community  Middle School, Clark Moores Middle School, Foley Middle School, Madison Middle School, Garrard Middle School, Lincoln County Middle School and Rockcastle County Middle School.

The Governor’s Cup features eight events, including quick recall, which is the only event open to the public. Quick recall begins at 10:45 a.m.

East Jessamine Middle School is located at 901 Union Mill Road in Nicholasville.

Davis makes dean’s list at Carson-Newman

Bethany Davis of Nicholasville was among students honored recently with inclusion on Carson-Newman College’s dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester.

Students earning a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while taking 12 or more credit hours are rewarded the distinction of dean’s-list honors and feted at a reception sponsored by the academic-affairs office and Alpha Chi Honor Society.
