The tornado in Moore, Oklahoma has killed 24 people, but many who survived have lost everything. We are compiling a list of reputable organizations that you can donate to and help the people affected by the storm.
RELIEF ORGANIZATIONS / NONPROFITS
Convoy of Hope: Text "Convoy" to 50555 to make an automatic $10 donation. The organization's website also has a page dedicated to donations for the victims in Moore.
The Salvation Army: Text "STORM" to 80888 or donate using the Moore tornado donation form on the Salvation Army's website.
American Red Cross: Text "REDCROSS" to 90999, or donate using the "Where the Need is Greatest" link on the American Red Cross website. You can also donate to the Southern Missouri Region of the Red Cross as well.
Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri: The organization is filling a box truck in the parking lot of Hobby Lobby, 1535 E. Battlefield in Springfield. Donations are requested and limited to the following: Shovels, tools, work gloves, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, diapers, wipes, canned food items and plastic storage containers. Binders and file folders are also requested. All donations are asked to be new and unused.
Parkview Christian Church: The church at 1362 S. Campbell Ave. in Springfield is open as a collection center for donations to go to Moore. The church is accepting funds as well as new and used items to be taken to a partner church, Antioch Christian Church at 3616 S.W. 119th St. in Oklahoma City. Connell Insurance, Forsyth, MO: Anyone wishing to donate non-perishable food items, and/or
bottled water, can bring them to the collection point at the Connell Insurance office at 1691 South Bus. 65 in Hollister, MO between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All donated items will be delivered by Connell Insurance on Wednesday, May 29th to the Red Cross facility in the devastated area.
