Gil Duran, who served as press secretary for Gov. Jerry Brown since Brown returned to the governor's office in 2011, is leaving the administration to work for Atty. Gen. Kamala D. Harris, Duran announced Tuesday.
In an email Tuesday, Duran said he would be working for Harris from Oakland, where he once worked in the press office of then-mayor Jerry Brown.
Both Villaraigosa and Harris are often named as potential candidates to succeed either Feinstein or Brown when they leave office.
Duran is the latest departure of senior Brown aides in recent weeks. The governor's top administrative aide, Jim Humes, received a judicial appointment, and senior policy advisor Julie Henderson is also leaving the administration.
