On a spring night, the drive north on Airport Road from Route 22 is delightful, especially when the destination is the Point Phillips Hotel. The landscape gradually grows more rural approaching the newly renovated 19th century tavern — abundant...

  5. Great Places For Mussels in Fairfield County

When a group of friends got together for lunch recently in Greenwich, we grew silent as we looked at the menu. None of us wanted to spend a lot of money. What to order? My friends chose pizzas and salads. But when my mussels arrived, everyone let out an envious breath.

  9. Hometown beer-off

Yes, some fans go to baseball games to watch the on-field action. But I'll attest that a solid 72 percent—a completely unscientific digit I've selected—are there for the sunshine, the nacho helmets and the chance to catch a slingshot tee. Especially when the teams' performances are lackluster, most fans are at a game because Wrigley and The Cell essentially are Chicago's two largest beer gardens. As the Cubs and Sox square off for the Crosstown Classic next week (May 27-30), only one question was on my mind: Which field has the better brews? I drank my way through the ballparks on two consecutive weeks to settle the true Cubs-Sox rivalry.

Many summer resorts boast spectacular beaches and a vast array of fabulous accommodations. So what distinguishes one beach town from another? Along coastal Delaware, it's the indigenous flavors that set it apart from its sand-strewn neighbors to the north and south.
