Cancellation

Because of unforeseen circumstances, the Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia support group held at the Friendship Center is  canceled on Wednesday, Jan. 9. It will resume at its usual time -- the second Wednesday of the month --  2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan provides free counseling and support services to victims of crime including victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, child abuse, child sexual assault and adults molested when they were children. Services also provided to victims of elder abuse, hate crimes, economic abuse/fraud, robbery, DUI/DWI crashes, and survivors of a homicide victim. Project FREE preschool has openings for children who will be 4 years of age by Dec. 1. Project FREE helps build students' social and academic skills for a smooth transition into kindergarten through activities such as art, music, computer time, dramatic play and skill building. Project FREE preschool is offered half days, Monday through Thursday, from October through May. Although there is no cost to families, state eligibility requirements do exist.
