Jacqueline Dombroski, of Petoskey, passed away at her home on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at the age of 99.
She was born in Onaway, Mich., the daughter of George W. and E. Grace (Bahel) Pregitzer. She was a graduate of Onaway High School, class of 1931.
Wilmette, Ill., where she taught core curriculum to seventh- and eighth-grades from 1941-1944.
On Feb. 15, 1942, she married Frank S. Dombroski of Petoskey, shortly thereafter Frank entered service with the United States Army Air Force and was sent to the South Pacific.
In 1946, she returned to our area and to Central Elementary where she both taught and served as assistant principal. She became a school administrator and served as principal of both Central Elementary and later Lincoln Elementary, and then from 1954 through 1970 Jacqueline served as supervisor of Petoskey Elementary Schools. She retired from school administration in 1970 but not from teaching and from 1970 until her eventual retirement in 1978 she taught fourth-graders at Ottawa Elementary.
Jacqueline enjoyed traveling with her family. She traveled all over North America and Mexico as well as Hawaii. She also toured Central Europe and in 1998 she traveled to England and Scotland.
Jacqueline is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Donna, of San Diego; three grandchildren, Kata Vehar, Max Dombroski and Alex Dombroski; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in March of 1995.
No public services are planned at this time and arrangements were by Stone Funeral Home.
