The group held a town hall meeting to discuss their own proposal to retain VA services in Hot Springs.
The chair of the Save the VA group, Patrick Russell, says they haven't held a public meeting since last June.
Russell says, "The members of the community have been in the dark about what we've been doing and what the next steps would be. Tonight is their opportunity to see how things have gone, what we presented using the data that they gathered."
Russell says veterans need to know what the ramifications are if the VA were to close in Hot Springs. He says now they wait on Secretary Shinseki to make a decision but in the mean time will get the word out that this is not what local veterans deserve.
