American racecar driver Jeff Burton was born on June 29, 1967, in South Boston, Va. He began driving in races in the Busch Series in 1988 in a car owned by his father John Burton. He competed the full season in the following year. In 1994, in the Winston Cup Series, he reached 14th place before dropping to 24th after being disqualified at the Miller Genuine Draft 400 for illegal holes drilled on the roll cage, a safety violation. He won the 2008 Bank of America 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, his first multiple win season since 2001.
