3. Ray Rice believes Torrey Smith is ready to shine

Ray Rice was one of three Ravens who took a break from the team’s offseason workout program Tuesday to chat with reporters. He appeared to be wearing black pajama pants, so maybe a nap was next on his agenda.

  5. Ravens hope to follow historical trend and find value with 32nd selection

Three months after winning their first Super Bowl in 1983, the Washington Redskins received another reward. With the 28th and final selection in the first round of the 1983 NFL draft, and one pick after the Miami Dolphins grabbed a strong-armed quarterback from Pittsburgh named Dan Marino, the Redskins settled on an undersized but lightning-quick cornerback out of Texas A&M-Kingsville.

  7. Newsome undaunted by roster turnover, focusing on plan in place

The conversations didn’t just start in the aftermath of the Ravens’ victory in Super Bowl XLVII. They actually began four months earlier when Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, owner Steve Bisciotti and coach John Harbaugh started to meet and plan for 2013 and beyond.

  9. Ravens ready to take it one pick at a time during NFL draft

Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta was reading comments recently from former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson that he felt summed up his organization's drafting philosophy perfectly.

  11. Report: Josh Beckett charity one of many giving less than expected

Listen, would you know how to best run a nonprofit foundation? I wouldn’t have a clue. Ditto, it seems, with plenty of professional athletes.

  17. Could Ravens replace Boldin with DeAndre Hopkins?

The Ravens traded away Anquan Boldin last month because the veteran wide receiver’s production didn’t match his salary cap hit, but they might have eyes for a draft prospect who is drawing comparisons to Boldin.

  19. Ravens news, notes and opinions on Ayanbadejo, Thompson, Te'o and more

I mentioned this on my Twitter account, but I wanted to go into a little more detail here. Eight of the nine oldest Ravens – and the six oldest overall - from the team that won the Super Bowl two months ago are no longer under contract with the team. That group includes Ray Lewis (37, retired), Bobbie Williams (36, released), Matt Birk (36, retired), Brendon Ayanbadejo (36, will be released), Ed Reed (34, signed with Houston), Ma’ake Kemoeatu (34, free agent), Bryant McKinnie (33, free agent) and Anquan Boldin (32, traded to San Francisco). The only exception is cornerback Chris Johnson, the 33-year-old who re-signed with the Ravens last month. Johnson and fullback Vonta Leach (31) are currently the two oldest players on the team and the only players on the roster over the age of 30.

  23. Elvis Dumervil deal is a reminder that Ravens' offseason has just begun

Would you march out of a movie theater seven minutes into the feature presentation because there weren’t enough explosions for your liking? Would you take a couple nibbles out of a grilled cheese sandwich, only to send it back to the kitchen because, for whatever reason, you were hoping it would taste more like lobster? Would you sell the big, brand-new house you just moved into because you found a leak in your basement?
