1. Dolphins riding wave of excitement into second and third rounds of draft

I like the Dion Jordan pick. I also like that the Dolphins traded up to draft Jordan, the defensive end/linebacker from Oregon, with the No. 3 pick of the draft. And I like the message the Dolphins sent by making such a bold move.

3. Newsome undaunted by roster turnover, focusing on plan in place

The conversations didn’t just start in the aftermath of the Ravens’ victory in Super Bowl XLVII. They actually began four months earlier when Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, owner Steve Bisciotti and coach John Harbaugh started to meet and plan for 2013 and beyond.

5. Ravens have more than a few inside linebacker options in draft

Eighteen years ago during their inaugural draft, the Ravens landed future Hall of Fame middle linebacker Ray Lewis late in the first round.

7. Dolphins players conducting leadership search

There’s an active search going on at the Dolphins’ facility nowadays.
There’s an active search going on at the Dolphins’ facility nowadays. This isn’t a search for the best first-round pick in tonight’s draft, or a search to find a team to send wide receiver Davone Bess via trade. This search...

9. Ravens draft preview: Inside linebackers

Each weekday through tomorrow, the day before the first round of the NFL draft, The Sun will look at where the Ravens stand at each position, the likelihood that they will address that spot early in the draft and some of the prospects that they may consider.

11. Ravens reviewing Rolando McClain's latest arrest in Alabama

Looking to upgrade their depth at inside linebacker, the Ravens were willing to give Rolando McClain a second chance in the NFL. However, the 2010 first-round pick wasted no time in putting his future with the team in question.

13. Tavon Austin, other random NFL combine thoughts

The NFL’s annual pre-draft meat market wraps up Tuesday, but one of the players generating the most buzz at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis was former Dunbar star Tavon Austin. His 4.34 in the 40-yard dash Sunday validated the gigabytes of electrifying game tape the wide receiver compiled at West Virginia.

15. Could the Eagles be eyeing a trade-back with the Dolphins?

Earlier today, Adam Caplan of Sirius/XM reported that the Eagles were working out Oklahoma LT Lane Johnson. Caplan also noted that "in his 12 years of going to Senior Bowl practices, he couldn't recall a more dominant performance from a......

19. Next investment for the Ravens should be on the offensive line

The Ravens seem to have everything in place on offense.

21. Ravens news, notes and opinions on Ayanbadejo, Thompson, Te'o and more

I mentioned this on my Twitter account, but I wanted to go into a little more detail here. Eight of the nine oldest Ravens – and the six oldest overall - from the team that won the Super Bowl two months ago are no longer under contract with the team. That group includes Ray Lewis (37, retired), Bobbie Williams (36, released), Matt Birk (36, retired), Brendon Ayanbadejo (36, will be released), Ed Reed (34, signed with Houston), Ma’ake Kemoeatu (34, free agent), Bryant McKinnie (33, free agent) and Anquan Boldin (32, traded to San Francisco). The only exception is cornerback Chris Johnson, the 33-year-old who re-signed with the Ravens last month. Johnson and fullback Vonta Leach (31) are currently the two oldest players on the team and the only players on the roster over the age of 30.

23. Arthur Brown is an intriguing linebacker prospect

For me, one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2013 NFL draft, at least among the ones who may be available when the Ravens are on the clock at No. 32 overall, is Kansas State inside linebacker Arthur Brown.
