1. Phil Simms not back-tracking from saying that Eli Manning is not an elite quarterback

Groller's Corner
I like Phil Simms because he's not afraid to say whats on his mind. Did a story on him a few years ago when he was at Lafayette for Lauren's First and Goal Camp and was impressed with him there as well. Simms stirred the pot in the Big Apple by saying...

3. Cutler would profit from strong 2012

It was hard for Jay Cutler not to notice how business unfolded for Drew Brees.
It was hard for Jay Cutler not to notice how business unfolded for Drew Brees. While the Saints were scarred by a messy bounty scandal, Brees emerged from the dust somewhat unscathed and with reason to smile. He became the richest player in NFL history...

7. Giants reeling in playoff hunt

If Sunday was a true indicator, then the New York Giants' long road back to the playoffs to defend their Super Bowl championship received a huge blow.
If Sunday was a true indicator, then the New York Giants' long road back to the playoffs to defend their Super Bowl championship received a huge blow. The bridge is out. They need help. Big time. The 34-0 loss to NFC-leading Atlanta was...

11. Ravens news, notes and opinions

We’ll have plenty of time to talk about this in the weeks ahead, but it dawned on me Sunday just how many difficult decisions owner Steve Bisciotti, general manager Ozzie Newsome and the rest of the Ravens’ front office will have to make this offseason. Some answers might become self evident over the next several weeks, but right now, the picture is pretty murky. What do they do with Joe Flacco, whose recent troubling play has reignited the debate on whether the Ravens should make a long-term commitment to him as their franchise quarterback? Do they re-sign safety Ed Reed, assuming that he wants to return? Is it a given that they bring back linebacker Ray Lewis and wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who will both carry salary cap hits of more than $7 million next season? What about other free agents like linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger and cornerback Cary Williams? If the Ravens’ fade continues, it might be a little easier for Bisciotti and company to do a little housecleaning in some areas and start anew. But either way, I’d imagine that there will be plenty of angst over some of the calls that they have to make after the end of the season.

How did the Ravens lose on Sunday? Let me count the ways. Joe Flacco turned the ball over twice in the third quarter when they were in position to put the game away. The Ravens gave up a touchdown pass and a two-point conversion to somebody named Kirk...

What's the sound when perfection goes poof? Sunday, it was a thud, as New Orleans cornerback Jabari Greer batted away a fourth-down pass by the Atlanta Falcons, who were two yards away from a touchdown that would have kept them undefeated. From 8-0 to 9...
