1. Suggs is saving the talk for the season

The new general of the Ravens defense had been quiet ever since the team won the Super Bowl in early February. Terrell Suggs was silent as top young linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger signed lucrative contracts elsewhere, and the older...

  3. Instant Analysis on the Ravens' signing of Elvis Dumervil

Jeff Zrebiec, reporter: You knew at some point the Ravens would strike in the free agent market, and they did in a big way Sunday night, agreeing in principle on a five-year deal with Elvis Dumervil. With both of their starting inside linebackers, one of their starting corners and both their starting safeties gone from last year, the Ravens obviously still have some work to do. But they have helped their run defense with the addition of Chris Canty and Marcus Spears and their pass rush could be scary with Dumervil and the healthy trio of Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata and Pernell McPhee. The way the deal is structured will still leave the Ravens with about $5 million of salary cap. You'd have to look long and hard to find a downside to this deal. When Dumervil takes his physical and signs his contract Tuesday, the Ravens will automatically become a far more dangerous defense.

  5. Why is Baltimore standing by while the Ravens turn into the Florida Marlins of football?

What is wrong with this town? I know there are tons of people out there in Baltimore who are as angry at what just happened to our Super Bowl team as I am, but where is their voice?

  7. Is the read-option really just 'the flavor of the day?'

You know how you wake up on Sunday morning and enjoy the challenge of trying to complete the crossword puzzle or the Sudoku in the newspaper? That’s how NFL defensive coordinators and coaches when they wake up in the morning feel about the read-option offense, which puzzled many teams during the 2012 season.

  11. Q&A with Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti

PHOENIX — It has been six weeks since Steve Bisciotti stood on a podium at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and raised the Lombardi Trophy aloft, celebrating his team's 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII and his crowning achievement as the Ravens' owner.

  13. Upbeat Harbaugh not sweating Ravens' losses, hopeful of Reed return

The reality of the Ravens’ salary cap situation and post Super Bowl XLVII world hit coach John Harbaugh early last week. With the Ravens failing to convince wide receiver Anquan Boldin to take a pay cut and not willing to carry his $6 million salary cap hit, Harbaugh knew exactly who to call.

  15. Upgraded defensive line will give Harbaugh options, decisions to make

Long before the Ravens went on their Super Bowl run, coaches and team officials had grown tired of watching opposing ball carriers tear through the middle of the line of scrimmage and pick up yards down the field.

  17. Adding Canty should boost Ravens defensive line

The Ravens lost two more starters from their Super Bowl roster on Tuesday -- and then cut veteran safety Bernard Pollard on Wednesday -- bringing the total of departed starters to six. The Ravens did, however, sign a versatile defensive lineman who, if he doesn’t step into the starting lineup as a five-technique end, could at least play significant snaps in their defensive line rotation.

  19. Ravens defense looking like a younger, quieter, less expensive group

The Ravens' surprising decision Wednesday to cut Bernard Pollard, the hard-hitting and tough-talking safety who led the Super Bowl champions in tackles last season, opens up just $1 million of salary-cap room. So at least on the surface, the move appears to go beyond simple finances.
