  3. Julia & Brian

In life you are told to expect the unexpected, but the last thing I expected was to meet the love of my life so soon in life. I was working at a restaurant as a hostess while attending college, and I had just overcome the most difficult year of my life. My father had recently passed away from cancer and my sister and I went to California to take care of him during the last months of his life. It was an awakening experience that really made me realize how precious life really is. My sister and I would take turns spending the night at the hospital because my father was so afraid of being alone. At first it was a little traumatic to see my father (who use to be so full of life) battling cancer. It took a lot out me emotionally and mentally. When I finally came back to Florida I had nothing- I had used all of my savings to go to California to be with my father, and now I had to figure out a way to get back to my regular life. I took a job at a local restaurant and one day, out of the blue, walks in Brian. He had a sketch book in his hand which reminded me of my dad(he was an artist in every sense of the word- a director, writer, painter- and sometimes over dinner he would sketch our faces or write a quick poem). We struck up a conversation and by the end of his dinner we were both blushing and giggling like children. Thinking back I can't even explain how it happened...he would ask me a question, and I would answer, and then I would do the same...what we found out about each other was how much we had in common!
