First place in the Blue Ridge District was on the line Friday night in Vinton as Northside and resurgent William Byrd got together at Bob Patterson Stadium.  Both teams still have to play Rockbridge County, but Friday night's winner certainly with a leg up on the district crown.

The Vikings have won 16 straight in the district since losing to Byrd in 2008.

We start things off with Northside trying to punt. But things don't go as planned. William Byrd recovered the botched snap, and the Terriers would cash in.

Simeon Horstmann punched it in from a yard out.  Byrd was up 7-zip.

Northside responded as Vikings QB Dominic Dunnaville hit Harold Buckner in stride on this 30-yard scoring connection. The extra point failed and it was 7 to 6.

But get used to those two names putting up points, here is Dunnaville hitting Buckner again. It's a huge hookup.  This one goes for 85 yards all the way to the paint, the big play put the Vikings in front 13-7.

Terriers hung tough through trickery. William Byrd lined up to punt. But it was a fake. Hunter Shepherd found Shaffer Kelly for 22 yards and the first down. The Terriers were in business

And they made the most of the extra life. It was Horstmann again finding the endzone from in tight. This one was back and forth all night, but it was Northside getting the 34 to 27 overtime win, breaking hearts in the town of Vinton tonight.
