For Saints fans, it is time to sound the alarm.
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton rushed for a touchdown and tossed another as the Panthers claimed a 35-27 win over the Saints Sunday in Charlotte.
The Saints allowed Newton an average of 18 yards per pass, on 14 completions, as New Orleans fell to 0-2. Last season, the Saints lost a total of three games.
Interim head coach Aaron Kromer said, "there's no panic. At the end of the year, we will win more games than we lose."
Newton threw a second quarter 17 yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Stewart. He added a 9 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that gave Carolina a 35-20 lead.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw two interceptions, including one that was returned 9 yards for a touchdown by Charles Godfrey in the first quarter.
Brees completed 31 of 49 passes, including a first quarter one yard scoring toss to Jimmy Graham.
The Saints are now last in the league in yards allowed per game (461).
