INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana State Excise Police issued more than 100 tickets around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on race weekend, mostly for underage drinking.
Police say most of the 125 arrests were made Friday on Carburetion Day and on the night before the race Sunday. Ninety-three of the arrests were for underage drinking.
Last year, excise police officers issued 174 tickets.
Excise officers patrolled inside and near the speedway, in plain clothes and in uniform, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Police say excise officers also made arrests for marijuana possession, public intoxication, resisting law enforcement, public indecency, sexual battery and other charges.
