A great pool joint has to have a certain vibe, and, of course, a good table. There's only one at BAR, a ten-foot antique that's roughly 100 years old, and it's been in residence at the spacious club for twenty years. "It's free, no charge," says general manager Frank Patrick. "You put your name on a chalkboard. We have a good crowd here, and they respect that it's an antique." BAR's pizza, Patrick says, is the biggest part of their business, so you don't have to worry about missing the behind-the-back shot for lack of sustenance. "The table itself has its own following," Patrick says.
