INDIANAPOLIS - One of the most popular members of the Indiana Pacers will likely be stying for years to come.
The Pacers cannot make the league official until the end of the league's post-season moratorium on July 11th. Since Hibbert was a restricted free agent, the Pacers will have three days to officially match the offer and sign the center.
These offers for the services of Hibbert follow the most successful of his four years in the NBA in which he scored 12.8 points a game while grabbing 8 rebounds a game-both career highs. His inside play helped the Pacers win their first playoff series in seven seasons and play competitive basketball with the NBA champion Miami Heat before finally falling in the second round series in six games.
Aquired by the Pacers in a draft day trade with the Raptors, Hibbert has been a centerpiece of the team's rebuilding efforts both on the court and in the community. The center is well known for his "Area 55" section at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, in which Hibbert gives away 55 season tickets to the rowdiest fans of the team.
