The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Advisory until 7 a.m. EST Friday. The advisory is for Berrien County in Michigan, LaPorte and Starke Counties in Indiana.

In the lake effect areas, a range of 2-6" of additional accumulation is possible tonight and into the early morning hours. Some locally higher amounts will be possible where some of the heavier lake effect bands set up tonight and overnight. Outside the advisory areas only light snow is expected.

Some additional light snow is possible in these areas tonight, but the significant amounts will be closer to the lake in Berrien, LaPorte and Starke Counties.

Friday night should allow viewers to dig themselves out as there is a slight chance of lake effect snow tapering off early.

The next storm will develop Saturday night into Sunday, with several inches of accumulation expected.

That storm will usher in a blast of arctic air early next week, which will be some of the coldest air we've seen in years.
