A new corner library has opened in South Bend.

Some neighbors saw them in other cities and decided the Monroe Park neighborhood could use one.

So, they built the mini-library and put it up on the corner of Carroll and South Street.

They're hoping volunteer groups, like the Boy Scouts, will build more of them in other neighborhoods as a way to get more books into the community.

"People can take one, if that's what they want," said Jenni Bell, who helped start the library. "It would be nice t have them bring it back or to donate stuff. I know that there will probably be more taking than leaving, and that's fine."

The non-profit group Better World Books is helping make sure the mini-library is stocked with plenty of books and magazines for people to read.
