SOUTH BEND – A jury has been selected in the Dellia Castile trial.

The court, prosecutor, and defense on Tuesday eliminated many possible jurors before settling on 14 people to hear the case, 9 women and 5 men.

Castile is a South Bend grandmother accused of not doing anything to stop the abuse that led to her grandson's murder.

Castile is facing neglect charges for the death of her grandson last November.

10-year-old Tramelle Sturgis died in the family's West Washington Street home.

Police say his father beat him to death.

In May, a jury convicted Terry Sturgis of the murder and of abusing his other children.

Castile has been in jail since shortly after Tramelle's death.

The trial is scheduled to last until a week from Friday but could wrap up sooner.
