By 12:53 a.m. Sunday, a little more than an hour after Notre Dame's big 22-13 win over USC, some ND alumni were already receiving e-mails from the school's athletics department offering them online ticket applications for the BCS National Championship.
Applicants are being limited to two tickets at a cost of $350 each ($700 for the pair) plus a $25 application fee.
The online application is no guarantee of tickets, only a guarantee to be entered into the lottery for tickets.
Applicants will find out December 12 if they will get tickets. Those who don't get tickets will get refunds.
Anthony Travel, which handles bowl trip packages for Notre Dame, had its e-mails out by 11:33 Saturday night. They are informing would-be bowl game goers that they will also be having a drawing for Bowl Tour tickets starting Monday, November 26.
The Anthony Travel e-mail indicates that the agency's drawing will be held in accordance with ND lottery provisions and is set for December 3. In the e-mail, Anthony Travel is already encouraging fans to book flights right away.
Meantime, the Fanatics sports gear website sent out e-mails shortly after midnight already offering Fighting Irish merchandise touting the undefeated season and the fact that Notre Dame is heading to the title game.
