PHOTOS: Tragic end to search for downed pilot
Niles police confirm that a man piloting an ultralight aircraft died Saturday evening when he went down in a wooded area near the intersection of 5th and Clark in Niles. Initially when the ultralight went down the first challenge for rescuers was to find it. A command center was set up at the Niles airport. Search planes were put in the air and snowmobilers were even dispatched in the search.
