NOTRE DAME - It's fair to say a lot of Notre Dame students are having a difficult time focusing on studying for finals.

They're busy planning trips to Miami to cheer on their number one-ranked football team.

“As soon as the game was over people started booking flights,” said Jackie Picache, a student who is planning to carpool down to the game.

“I think we're going to take South Bend and move it down to Miami,” she said.

Students will pack into motels, rented homes, or crash on a friend's couch, and they say they'll go whether or not they get a seat in the stadium.

“You never know when this is going to happen again, so at this point if I end up spending a lot of money down there, it happens,” said Emmett McConville, a student.

The university gets 17,000 tickets to the game. Qualifying students, alumni, parents, and staff who want to go will have to fill out an application. After that their names go into a lottery.

Since tickets to the game will be so limited, the Notre Dame Alumni Association is planning all kinds of activities to keep people busy before and after the game.

There will likely be a community service project, a mass, and of course, a huge tailgate party.

“We know that we'll have lots of loyal fans that go down that don't have tickets, but will be a huge part of all the activities,” said Dolly Duffy, executive director of the alumni association.
