If everyone in South Bend with a political yard sign had actually voted, the turnout would have been quite impressive. As it was, the turnout, in my view, was a sad commentary. This is a pivotal time for South Bend, and there were numerous candidates worth our time, attention and votes.

Having said that, I am not one to lament so many people not exercising their right to vote. This is America and if you don’t want to vote, so be it.

Is it just me but doesn’t Democratic nominee Pete Buttigieg look like Butler basketball coach Brad Stevens?  If elected, hopefully he will just as successful.

Still – looking at his picture in the paper the day after the primary holding that microphone – I think if the political thing doesn’t work out he would make a fine television game show host.

Buttigeig ran a great campaign, coming across as the young outsider. Well he is young, but he probably had more South Bend political insiders on his side than the other candidates combined.

If elected I think he will do a good job. Let’s hope he thinks outside the same old box. I bet he will.

Is Joe Donnelly running FOR the Senate or is he running AWAY from Jackie Walorski?

Donnelly has to be banking on Dick Lugar getting knocked off by the Tea Party Republicans, because there is no way he beats Lugar straight up.

Apparently Lugar’s sin in the view of the Tea Party is that he is too moderate for them. I must have missed Catechism class the day the sin of moderation was on the blackboard.

I never thought this day would come, but I give Dick Cheney credit for patting President Obama on the back for his handling of the Bin Laden episode.

If the Bin Laden raid had been a movie script it probably would have been rejected.

From start to finish this was a remarkable achievement.  Well-planned by the Obama administration, and the execution by the Navy Seals was exquisite.  Heck, they even got his computer hard drive.

Who says there aren’t any heroes anymore?
