James Holmes taken into custody

James Holmes attacked an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater early Friday, July 20, 2012 tossing tear gas before opening fire on the terrified audience and killing 12 and wounding 38, authorities said. The theater was showing the new Batman movie, "The Dark Knight Rises." Police quickly arrested Holmes in a rear parking lot of the theater. The University of Colorado Denver Aschutz Medical Campus confirms that James Holmes was in the process of withdrawing from the University of Colorado Denver's graduate program in neurosciences.
