I went around checking the local dams today and found the pucker street dam overflowing on both sides on top, one side where a leve is grass covered had water cascading over it. The dam had 2 flood gates open but water continued to roar over it in spectacular fasion!

It's shameful that the 100 year old dam hasn't been replaced within the last 30 years! The cost of the clean up when and if it fails will be more than the cost of replacing it!

if you have never experienced the dowagiac,you are missing a great part of nature. it is only 20 minutes from down town south bend and the only thing you need is a inner tube and cooler. its the greatest place on earth close to home. ples dnt litter
