Ricky Gervais, you big softie

There were several very funny lines in Ricky Gervais' opening monologue -- we loved his joke about Helen Mirren being the subject of the "Bridesmaids" cast's research -- but for all the talk about his outrageousness, his jokes didn't play cruel at all (then again, we didn't think he was so bad last year either).
